Driving Your Vehicle

System Malfunction

~2min read

When the warning message "Check Driver Attention Alert" appears, the system is not operating properly. In this case, we recommend having the vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

WARNING

  • The Driver Attention Alert system does not replace safe driving practices. It is a convenience feature only. It is the driver's responsibility to always drive carefully to prevent unexpected and sudden situations. Always pay attention to road conditions.
  • This may indicate a need for a break depending on the driver's driving style or habits, even if the driver does not feel tired.
  • A driver who feels tired should take a break, even if the Driver Attention Alert system does not recommend one.

NOTICE

The Driver Attention Alert system uses a camera sensor mounted on the upper part of the windshield to operate.

To keep the camera sensor in the best condition, you must observe the following:

  • Do not disassemble the camera or attach any type of tinting film or accessories to the glass. If the camera is disassembled and reinstalled, take your vehicle to an authorized HYUNDAI dealer to have the system checked for calibration.
  • Do not place any reflective objects (such as white paper or a mirror) on the instrument panel. Any light reflection may cause the Driver Attention Alert (DAA) system to malfunction.
  • Be extremely careful to keep the camera sensor from getting wet.
  • Do not disassemble the camera assembly or apply impacts to the camera assembly.
  • Playing the vehicle audio system at high volume may distract the driver and interfere with the Driver Attention Alert warning sound.

CAUTION

The Driver Attention Alert system may not operate properly, or warnings may be limited, in the following situations:

  • Lane markings are not recognized correctly (see LKAS).
  • Harsh or deliberate evasive driving
  • Significant tire pressure deviation, uneven tire wear, incorrect wheel alignment, etc.
  • Severe winding road
  • Uneven road surface
  • Windy road
  • The vehicle is driving in a windy area.
  • The vehicle is equipped with the following driver assistance systems:
    - Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
    - Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system
    - Smart Cruise Control (SCC) system
