Description

  1. Mode
    1. Commonwealth of Virginia
      A. In this state, the receiver is shipped as a separate part. Therefore, service parts must arrive in this state.
      B. In this state there is no automatic location, no sensor wake-up, no sensor monitoring, and no DTC monitoring.
      C. This state indicates that the platform parameters must be written to the receiver and the sensors are not memorized.
    2. Normal State
      A. For the tire inflation and DTC monitoring state, the receiver must be in this state.
      B. In this state, automatic sensor detection/learning is enabled.
  2. Overview
    A. Learn the TPMS sensor for automatic inflation monitoring.
    B. Uses sensor information, distance traveled, background noise levels, auto-learn status, short/open circuit output status, vehicle battery charge level, and receiver internal states to determine whether there are system or vehicle malfunctions.

Operation

  1. General Function
    A. Auto-learn occurs only once per ignition cycle.
    B. When successfully completed, 4 wheel sensor IDs are stored in memory for monitoring.
    C. Until auto-learn is completed, previously learned sensors are monitored for underinflation/leak warnings.
  2. General conditions for learning new sensors:
    A. The receiver must determine that it is confident the sensor is not temporary: a. Uses vehicle speed. b. Uses the confidence reduction of previously learned sensors.
    B. The typical learning time for a new sensor during continuous driving at a speed greater than 25 km/h is up to 20 minutes.
  3. General conditions for canceling remote sensor learning:
    A. This takes less than 20 minutes at a speed of 30 km/h.
    B. Confidence reduction depends on the time the vehicle travels at a speed of 12.4 mph (20 km/h) or higher (30 km/h).
