Replacement

  1. Remove the tire. (Refer to Wheels/Tires - "Tires")
  2. Remove the screw using a Torx screwdriver (A).
    • When installing the parking brake, make sure it does not contact the TPMS sensor.
    • Be careful not to damage the TPMS sensor when installing the parking brake near the TPMS sensor.
  3. Remove the sensor housing (A) from the valve (B) in the direction indicated by the arrow.
  4. Remove the valve using the valve installation tool.
    1. Cut the rubber at the bottom of the valve with a knife.
    2. Use the valve installation tool to pull the valve until it is completely out of the lower hole.
  5. Apply lubricant to the surface of the valve, then install it through the wheel valve hole.
Use ordinary soapy water as a lubricant.
    • The lower part of the TPMS sensor valve will not be airtight if it is not fully installed on the wheel, as shown in the following illustration:
    • Make sure the valve body is fully inserted into the hole.
  6. Apply soapy water or lubricant to the upper/lower bead of the tire.
  7. To install the lower bead, position the TPMS sensor at the 5 o'clock position, starting from the tire changer head.
  8. Turn the wheel clockwise and press the tire toward the 3 o'clock position to install the lower beads.
    • Install the tire on the wheel. Make sure the beads contact the rim edge behind the sensor (in the 6 o'clock direction).
  9. To install the upper beads, press the tire toward the 3 o'clock position and turn the wheel clockwise.
  10. Inflate the tire until the tire beads are seated properly.
  11. Adjust the tire pressure to the recommended tire pressure for the vehicle.
  12. If the TPMS sensor is faulty, the TPMS sensor must be registered. Replace all faulty sensors and perform TPMS sensor registration.

Adjustment

[Sensor Registration]
If the sensor registration procedure is not performed with GDS after replacing the TPMS sensor or receiver, the TPMS will not operate.
  1. Connect the GDS (Global Diagnostic System) and the GDS TPMS module to the vehicle.
  2. Select the model and perform the sensor registration procedure according to the GDS instructions as follows.
