Exhaust gas warning
In this manual: Operating the vehicle

WARNING Avoid breathing exhaust gases. Exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide, a potentially lethal gas that is colorless and odorless. Since it is difficult to detect carbon monoxide on your own, observe the following precautions to help prevent carbon monoxide from entering the vehicle.
- Do not leave the engine running in a garage or other enclosed area.
- Do not park for a long time with the engine running, even outside. If it is necessary to remain in a parked vehicle with the engine running for a short time, make sure the air intake lever is set to "outside air" and the blower is running at high speed.
- Avoid driving a hatchback with the tailgate open. If it is necessary to drive with the tailgate open, make sure all windows are closed and set the blower to high speed with outside air intake.
- To ensure proper operation of the ventilation system, always clear snow, leaves, etc. from the air intake grille in front of the windshield.
- Keep the area around the exhaust pipe free of snow and other obstructions to reduce the build-up of exhaust gases under the vehicle. This is especially important when parked during a snowstorm.
- Periodically inspect the exhaust system for damage and leaks. Any such faults should be corrected immediately.
