Catalytic Converter

Konwerter katalityczny

The catalytic converter installed in this vehicle converts harmful compounds in the exhaust gas into harmless water vapor, carbon dioxide and nitrogen. Use of leaded fuel in vehicles equipped with a catalytic converter is prohibited, because lead deactivates the components of the catalyst that reduce harmful substances.

The catalytic converter is designed to last for the entire service life of the vehicle under normal use and with unleaded fuel. The catalytic converter requires no special maintenance. However, it is very important to keep the engine properly tuned. Engine misfiring caused by improper tuning may overheat the catalytic converter and, as a result, cause permanent damage to it and other vehicle components.

NOTICE To minimize the possibility of damage to the catalytic converter or other vehicle components:
  • Keep the engine in proper technical condition.
  • If the engine malfunctions, especially with misfiring or other obvious loss of power, have it repaired immediately.
  • Do not switch off the engine or disconnect the ignition while a gear is engaged and the vehicle is moving.
  • Do not attempt to start the vehicle by pushing or towing, or by rolling down a slope.
  • Do not run the engine at idle with the high-voltage leads disconnected, as is done during diagnostic tests.
  • If the engine idles unevenly or other faults occur, avoid prolonged idling.
  • Do not let the fuel tank run almost empty.
WARNING Be careful when driving and parking. The catalytic converter and other exhaust system components may be very hot. As with any vehicle, this vehicle should not be parked or driven where flammable materials such as dry grass or leaves may come into contact with the hot exhaust system.
