Manual air conditioning system
Air conditioning controls
Type A

Type B

■ Adjusting the temperature setting

Type A: To adjust the temperature setting, turn the temperature control dial clockwise (warm).
Type B: To adjust the temperature setting, turn the temperature control dial clockwise (warm) or counterclockwise (cool).
If
is not pressed, the system will supply ambient or warm air.
■ Changing the fan speed setting To adjust the fan speed, turn the fan control dial clockwise (increase) or counterclockwise (decrease).
Turning the dial to "0" turns off the fan.

■ Changing the airflow mode

To select the airflow, set the corresponding dial to the desired position.
- Air flows toward the upper body
- Air flows toward the upper body and feet
- Air flows toward the feet
- Air flows toward the feet and the windshield defroster is activated
- The windshield defroster is activated
For more precise adjustment, you can also select the intermediate positions between the air vent settings listed below.
Other functions
■ Switching between fresh air mode and recirculated air mode (Type B only) Turn the fresh air/recirculated air control knob to
(fresh air mode) or
(recirculated air mode).
■ Defrosting the windshield The defrosters are used to remove frost from the windshield and front side windows.
Set the air vent selection dial to
.
Type A: To defog the windshield and side windows more quickly, increase the airflow and temperature.
Type B: If recirculated air mode is in use, set the fresh air/recirculated air control knob to fresh air mode.
To defog the windshield and side windows more quickly, increase the airflow and temperature.
If the dehumidification function is not on, press
to activate the dehumidification function.
■ Rear Window and Outside Rear View Mirror Defogger
Vehicles without outside rear view mirror defoggers The defogger is used to defog the rear window.
Vehicles with outside rear view mirror defoggers The defoggers are used to defog the rear window and to remove raindrops, dew, and ice deposits from the outside rear view mirrors.
Press
.
The defoggers will turn off automatically after approximately 15 minutes.
Vehicles with outside rear view mirror defoggers: When the rear window defogger is turned on, the outside rear view mirror defoggers also turn on.
Air Vents
■ Air Vent Locations The air vents and air volume change depending on the selected airflow mode.
*: Some models

■ Adjusting the Air Vent Direction and Opening/Closing the Air Vents Airflow can be directed left or right, up or down.

- Opens the vent
- Closes the vent
The vents cannot be rotated completely
■ Window Fogging (Type B only)
- When humidity inside the cabin is high, the windows fog up easily. When
is turned on, air from the vents is dehumidified and the windshield is effectively defogged. - If
is turned off, the windows will fog up more easily. - The windows may also fog up more easily when recirculated air mode is used.
■ Outside Air/Recirculated Air Mode (Type B only) When driving on dusty roads, in tunnels, or in heavy traffic, set the outside air/recirculated air selector switch to recirculated air mode. This is effective in preventing outside air from entering the vehicle cabin. During cooling operation, selecting recirculated air mode also helps cool the cabin effectively.
■ If the Outside Temperature Drops Close to 0 °C (Type B only) If the button
is pressed, the dehumidification function may not operate.
■ Odors from the Ventilation and Air Conditioning System (Type B only)
- To bring in fresh air from outside, set the air conditioning system to outside air mode.
- During use, various odors from inside and outside the vehicle can enter and accumulate in the air conditioning system. These odors may then be released into the cabin through the air vents.
- To reduce the possibility of these odors forming: It is recommended to set the air conditioning system to outside air mode before turning off the engine.
■ Odor from the Air Conditioning System Caused by the Smart Entry and Start System Operation (vehicles with Smart Entry and Start System) When the engine is stopped by the Smart Entry and Start System, a moisture-related odor may be noticed. This does not indicate a malfunction.
■ Air Conditioning Filter
WARNING
■ To Prevent Windshield Fogging
- Type B only: In very humid conditions, do not use
during cool air operation. The difference between the outside air temperature and the windshield temperature may cause fogging on the outside surface of the windshield, reducing visibility. - Do not place objects on the instrument panel that may block the air vents. Otherwise, airflow may be obstructed, preventing the defroster from defogging the windshield.

■ To Avoid Burns (vehicles with outside rear view mirror defoggers) Do not touch the surfaces of the outside rear view mirrors while their defoggers are on.
NOTE
■ To Avoid Battery Discharge With the engine off, do not leave the air conditioning system on longer than necessary.
