Fluid Level Check

~1min read

PROCEDURE

WARNING Only V.A.G. G002000 hydraulic fluid must be added. Until 1989, ATF fluid was used. PROCEDURE 1. Set the front wheels in the straight-ahead position. 2. Start the engine. 3. Check the fluid level in reservoir 22 (see figure Power Steering Mechanism). The fluid level must be between the «MAX» and «MIN» marks. 4. Add fluid if the level is below the «MIN» mark. 5. Turn the steering wheel lock to lock several times until no more bubbles appear in the reservoir, thereby bleeding air from the system.

WARNING If fluid had to be added, it is recommended to check the hydraulic system for leaks.
