Hydraulic System Fluid Replacement

~1min read

PROCEDURE 1. Disconnect return hose 17 (see figure Power Steering Mechanism) from pump 26. 2. Drain the hydraulic fluid into a container, turning the steering wheel lock to lock to remove as much fluid as possible. 3. Connect return hose 17 to pump 26. 4. Fill reservoir 22 with new fluid. 5. Start the engine several times for 30 s each. 6. While adding fluid, make sure the reservoir does not run empty. 7. Let the engine run at idle when the fluid level stops changing on the next engine start. 8. Turn the steering wheel lock to lock several times until no more bubbles appear in the reservoir, thereby bleeding air from the system.

WARNING After the engine is started, the fluid level in the reservoir will rise slightly.
