Visual inspection

Has the spark plug lead or any wire terminal come loose from a component of the ignition or fuel injection system?
Check the high-tension leads to the ignition coil, distributor and spark plug connectors for secure fit (ignition must be OFF!).

Are all vacuum hoses in the engine compartment connected to the correct connections?
Is there condensation on or under the distributor cap? All ignition system components, including the ignition coil, must be clean and dry, otherwise there is a high risk of current leakage and breakdown under high voltage.

Gasoline smell in the engine compartment? Check the fuel line for leaks and secure connection.
