GENERAL INFORMATION

Check the brake booster if excessive force is required on the pedal to achieve sufficient braking.

PROCEDURE

1. With the vehicle stationary, depress the brake pedal at least 5 times. Then, with the pedal held down, start the engine. The pedal should now feel firm underfoot.

2. If not, disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster and start the engine. Place a finger over the end of the vacuum hose and check whether vacuum is present.

3. If there is no vacuum: Check the hose for leaks. Replace it if necessary. Tighten all hose clamps.

4. If vacuum is present: Measure the vacuum value. If necessary, replace the booster (workshop task).
