Parking Brake Adjustment
GENERAL INFORMATION
CAUTION
Due to the automatic adjustment of the rear wheel brakes, parking brake adjustment is not required. Parking brake adjustment is only required when the parking brake cable, rear calipers or guides are replaced.PROCEDURE
1. Depress the brake pedal firmly. A strong pedal resistance must be felt.
2. Release the parking brake.

3. Remove the ashtray from the rear of the center console. The adjusting nut (arrow in the illustration) is located on the brake lever.
CAUTION
If the parking brake cables must be replaced, remove the trim from the brake lever and remove the rear part of the center console, refer to the Center Console Removal and Installation subsection.4. Apply the parking brake lever three times (approximately 30 kg force), then release it again. This is necessary to seat the brake components.
5. Mark the position of the rear wheels relative to the hubs with paint. This allows the balanced wheels to be returned to their original position during installation. Loosen the wheel bolts with the vehicle on the ground. Raise the front of the vehicle, place it on stands and remove the rear wheels.

6. With the parking brake lever released, tighten the adjusting nut on the lever so that the levers (arrow in the illustration) on the calipers move away from the stops. If necessary, check with a feeler gauge 1. The clearance between the lever and the caliper (arrow) on both sides must not exceed 1.5 mm.
7. Check that both rear hubs rotate freely with the lever released.
8. Install the rear wheels so that the marks made during removal are aligned. Apply a thin layer of bearing grease to the wheel centering collar on the hub beforehand. Install the bolts. Lower the vehicle onto the wheels and tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern to 120 N·m.
9. Install the ashtray in the center console.
