GENERAL INFORMATION

When working with brake fluid, observe the following:

CAUTION

Brake fluid is poisonous. Never draw fluid into your mouth through a hose. Store brake fluid only in containers that are inaccessible to children and unauthorized persons.

PROCEDURE

1. Brake fluid is aggressive. Do not allow it to contact painted surfaces. If brake fluid does get on a painted surface, wipe the surface and rinse with a strong stream of water.

2. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, i.e. it absorbs moisture from the air. Therefore, store brake fluid in closed containers.

3. Brake fluid that has been used in the brake system must not be reused. After bleeding air from the brake system, add only new brake fluid.

4. Brake fluid specification: FMVSS 116 DOT

4.

5. Do not allow brake fluid to come into contact with mineral oils. Even a small amount of mineral oil renders brake fluid unusable or causes brake system failure. Contact of brake system seals and cups with substances containing mineral oils will damage them. Do not use rags soaked in mineral oil to clean the system.

6. Replace brake fluid every 2 years. It is recommended to do this after the cold season.

CAUTION

Brake fluid must be disposed of properly. Never dispose of it with household waste. Local authorities shall inform drivers of locations where hazardous materials can be disposed of.
