Brake Disc Thickness Check
INSPECTION
PROCEDURE
1. Mark the position of the wheels relative to the hub with paint. This allows the balanced wheel to be installed in its original position. Loosen the wheel bolts while the vehicle is still on the ground. Raise the vehicle and place it on stands. Remove the wheels.

2. Always measure the brake disc thickness at its thinnest point. Workshops use a special micrometer caliper or micrometer, since wear forms a lip on the brake disc. The thickness can also be measured with a standard vernier caliper. To do this, place shims of suitable thickness (for example, coins) on each side of the disc. Then subtract the total thickness of the shims from the measured value.
CAUTION
Measure the disc thickness at several points.3. Brake disc dimensions are given in the Specifications.
4. When the wear limit is reached, the disc must be replaced.
5. If there are large cracks or scores deeper than 0.5 mm, the disc must be replaced.
6. Install the wheels so that the marks made during removal align. Install the wheel bolts. Lower the vehicle onto the wheels. Tighten the wheel bolts in a crosswise sequence to 120 N·m. Do not lubricate the wheel bolts.
