Luggage compartment

~2min read

All luggage or objects you carry must be secured in the luggage compartment.

Objects that are not secured can slide around in the luggage compartment, impair the vehicle's handling by shifting the center of gravity and, in addition, compromise road safety.

  • Distribute the load properly in the luggage compartment
  • Place and stow heavy luggage as far forward as possible in the luggage compartment.
  • Secure heavy objects to the tie-down eyelets or with the luggage net* provided for this purpose.

CAUTION!

  • Objects that are not secured can slide around in the luggage compartment, impair the vehicle's handling by shifting the center of gravity and compromise road safety.
  • Always stow objects in the luggage compartment and secure them to the tie-down eyelets.
  • When carrying heavy objects, handling characteristics change due to the shift of the center of gravity - risk of accident! You must therefore adapt your driving style and speed accordingly.
  • Never exceed the permissible axle loads or the permissible gross vehicle weight =? page 320, "Dimensions and capacities". If the permissible axle load or the permissible gross vehicle weight is exceeded, the vehicle's handling characteristics may change and cause accidents, injuries and damage to the vehicle.
  • Always keep an eye on your vehicle when the tailgate is open. Children could climb into the luggage compartment and close the tailgate from the inside. The children would be trapped and unable to get out of the vehicle - danger to life!
  • Do not let children play in or near the vehicle. Close and lock the tailgate and all doors when you leave the vehicle.
  • Never carry anyone in the luggage compartment. All occupants must have properly fastened their seat belts.
  • Note

    • Ventilation reduces fogging of the windows. Stale air escapes through the air outlet vents located in the side trim of the luggage compartment. Make sure the air outlet vents are not covered.
    • Straps suitable for the tie-down eyelets to secure transported objects are available from accessory retailers.
