Seat belt retractor operation
The driver and front passenger seat belts are equipped with retractors.
When a frontal, side or rear impact reaches a certain force, the front seat belts that have been fastened tighten against the direction of webbing extraction, which limits the forward movement of the occupants.
In minor collisions and rollovers, the seat belt retractor does not activate.
CAUTION!
- All repairs to the system, as well as the removal and installation of system components required due to other repair work, must only be carried out by a specialist workshop.
- The system provides protection for one accident only. If the seat belt retractors have been activated, the system must be replaced.
Note
- When the seat belt retractors activate, smoke may escape. This does not, however, mean that the vehicle is on fire.
- When scrapping the vehicle or system components, you must strictly observe the relevant safety instructions. These instructions are available at your Audi workshop for consultation.
