General Information

Front Suspension
1 — strut assembly
2 — coil spring
3 — gas-filled shock absorber
4 — stabilizer bar
5 — stabilizer link
6 — tie rod
7 — front suspension crossmember
8 — steering gear
9 — link
10 — control arm

The front wheels are independently suspended by double wishbones. The aluminum crossmember is connected to the body through rubber mounts. The front crossmember is connected to the steering knuckles through the control arms and links. Hydraulic bushings in the control arms compensate for vibration, even with unbalanced wheels. The strut assemblies, bolted to the body and steering knuckles, consist of a coil spring and a gas-filled twin-tube shock absorber. The stabilizer bar counteracts body roll during cornering and improves front wheel contact with the road.

Welding or straightening of the front suspension is not permitted.

* Since the suspension is made entirely of aluminum, observe the following:

a) Do not allow the suspension to contact battery electrolyte.
b) Clean the suspension only with a stainless steel brush. Do not use steel or brass brushes.
c) When grinding or cutting, cover suspension parts to protect them from sparks. Do not expose them to a shower of sparks.
d) Do not expose suspension parts to welding sparks. Cover the suspension parts.
e) Do not expose suspension parts to temperatures above +80°C. Exposure to paint booth temperatures is permissible.
