Luggage compartment
The chapter on charging cables and wireless charging in the BMW 5 VII Gen explains the options for supplying power to mobile devices. In addition to inductive charging, USB-C ports can also be used for fast-charging connections. The wireless connection to infotainment systems such as Apple CarPlay or Android Auto completes the connectivity. All connections are clearly positioned and easy to reach. Combined with holders, storage compartments and safety features, this creates a networked interior that ideally combines comfort and technology. A well-designed addition to the modern driving experience.
Vehicle equipment
This chapter describes all standard, country-specific and optional equipment offered in the model series. It therefore also describes equipment that is not available in a given vehicle, for example due to the selected optional equipment or country variant. This also applies to safety-related functions and systems. When using the corresponding functions and systems, observe the applicable laws and regulations.
Loading
Safety notes
WARNING Excessive gross weight can overheat the tires, cause internal damage and sudden tire pressure loss. Driving characteristics can be adversely affected, e.g. reduced directional stability, longer braking distance and changed steering behavior.
Risk of accident. Observe the permissible load-carrying capacity of the tire and do not exceed the permissible gross weight. WARNING If the permissible gross weight and permissible axle loads are exceeded, the operating safety of the vehicle is no longer ensured. Risk of accident.
Do not exceed the permissible gross weight and permissible axle loads. WARNING Loose objects or devices with a cable connection to the vehicle, e.g. mobile phones, can be thrown through the interior while driving, e.g. in an accident or during braking and evasive maneuvers.
Risk of injury. Secure loose objects or devices with a cable connection to the vehicle in the interior. WARNING Improperly stowed objects can slip or be thrown into the interior, e.g. in an accident or during braking or evasive maneuvers. Vehicle occupants may be struck and injured as a result. Risk of injury. Stow and secure objects and cargo properly. NOTICE Liquids in the luggage compartment can cause damage. Risk of property damage. Make sure no liquids leak into the luggage compartment.
Stowing and securing cargo
- Cover sharp edges and corners on cargo.
- Heavy cargo: Stow as far forward as possible, directly behind the rear seat backrests and low down.
- Very heavy cargo: Stow as far forward as possible, directly behind the rear seat backrests and low down. If the rear seat is unoccupied, insert the outer seat belts into the buckle on the opposite side.
- Fold down the rear seat backrests completely if cargo is to be stowed accordingly.
- Do not stack cargo above the top edge of the backrests.
- Small and light cargo: Secure with ratchet straps or with a luggage net or elastic cords.
- Larger and heavy cargo: Secure with tie-down equipment.
Tie-down eyelets in the luggage compartment

Tie-down eyelets are located in the luggage compartment to secure cargo.
Attach securing aids for cargo, such as lashing straps, tensioning straps, elastic cords or luggage nets, to the tie-down eyelets in the luggage compartment.
Storage in the luggage compartment
Bag holder
General
A bag holder is located on the left side of the luggage compartment.
Safety information
WARNING Improper use of the holders can lead to a hazard from flying objects, e.g. during braking and evasive maneuvers. There is a risk of injury and risk of property damage. Only hang light items, e.g. shopping bags, on the holders. Transport heavy luggage in the luggage compartment only with appropriate securing.
Unfolding

Press and turn the bag holder until it locks into place.
Net
Smaller items can be stored in the net on the left side.

Safety notes
WARNING There is a risk of pinching when folding down the rear seat backrest. There is a risk of injury or risk of property damage.
Before folding down, make sure the movement range of the rear seat backrest and the head restraint is clear. WARNING If the seat backrest is not locked, loose cargo can be thrown into the interior, for example in an accident or during braking or evasive maneuvers. There is a risk of injury. After folding the seat backrest back up, make sure the lock has engaged. WARNING If the seat is set incorrectly or a child seat is installed incorrectly, the stability of the child restraint system is reduced or absent. There is a risk of injury or death. Make sure the child restraint system fits firmly against the seat backrest.
Where possible, adjust the backrest angle on all affected seat backs and set the seats correctly. Make sure the seats and their backrests are properly locked in place.
If possible, adjust the head restraints to a lower position or remove them. NOTICE Vehicle components can be damaged when folding down the rear seat backrest. There is a risk of property damage. When folding down, make sure the movement range of the rear seat backrest, including the head restraint, is clear.
