Battery

Maintenance: The battery is maintenance-free, meaning the electrolyte filled in the battery is sufficient for its entire service life (under moderate climate conditions).

For all questions concerning the battery, contact an authorized BMW service center.

Charging the Battery: Charge the battery only with the engine switched off, via the terminals in the engine compartment. For the terminals, see "Jump Starting" on page 177.

Disposal

Take used batteries to a special collection point or to a BMW service center. Charged batteries are transported and stored upright. During transport, take measures to prevent the battery from tipping over.

After Interruption of Power Supply: After an interruption of the power supply (for example, if the battery was fully discharged), some vehicle functions must be initialized and individual settings restored:

► Seat, mirror and steering wheel memory positions: the positions must be programmed again.
► Time and date: the time and date must be set again.
► Auxiliary heating/ventilation start time: the timers must be programmed again.
