Coolant

~2min read

In moderate climates, the coolant provides frost protection down to -30 C.

In very cold climates, the coolant provides frost protection down to -40 C.

Maintain the proper properties of the low-silicate coolant.

Caution Use only low-silicate coolant designed for this vehicle model.

Coolant level

Caution Coolant level that is too low may cause engine damage.
Poziom płynu chłodzącego

When the coolant is cold, the level should be above the mark.

If necessary, add the correct amount of coolant.

Warning Never remove the coolant reservoir cap while the engine or radiator is hot. This may cause serious personal injury. Allow the engine to cool before opening the cap.

Open the cap carefully to allow the pressure to equalize gradually.

Top up with a mixture of distilled water and approved antifreeze. Tighten the filler cap securely. Have the coolant composition checked and the cause of coolant loss corrected by a dealer.

Note If the coolant level drops below the mark, top up the radiator with a mixture of demineralized water and organic-acid low-silicate coolant in a 56:44 ratio (56% water).

For better protection at very low outside temperatures, use a mixture of 48 percent water and 52 percent low-silicate coolant.

Caution Using plain water or a mixture with an incorrect volume ratio may damage the cooling system. Do not use plain water, alcohol, or methanol-based low-silicate coolant in the cooling system.

Otherwise, the engine may overheat or even catch fire.

Caution Coolant may be a hazardous substance. Avoid repeated or prolonged skin contact with coolant. After working with coolant, wash your skin and nails with soap and water or hand cleaner. Keep out of reach of children.

Coolant may irritate the skin, and if swallowed it may cause illness or even death.

Caution Do not add coolant more often than specified in the maintenance schedule. If you need to add coolant frequently, the engine may need servicing. Have the cooling system checked by a dealer.

It is recommended to have this done by an authorized service center.
