Engine Oil Life System
The vehicle is equipped with a computer system that indicates when the engine oil and filter should be changed.
The system uses information about engine speed, engine temperature and vehicle mileage.
Depending on operating conditions, the mileage at which an oil change reminder appears may vary considerably.
For the oil life system to work correctly, it must be reset every time the engine oil is changed.
When the system calculates that the oil life has been reduced, it indicates that an oil change is required.
The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display message code 82 (Change Engine Oil Soon).
Change the oil as soon as possible, within the next 1000 km.
When driving under very favorable conditions, the oil life system may not indicate that an oil change is needed for up to a year. The engine oil and filter must be changed at least once a year, and the system must be reset at that time.
An authorized service center has trained service personnel who will perform these tasks and reset the system.
It is also very important to check the oil regularly between changes and to maintain the correct level.
If the system has been reset by accident, change the oil within 5000 km of the last oil change.
After changing the oil, reset the engine oil life monitoring system. An authorized service center is recommended for this.
How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System
Reset the system every time the engine oil is changed so that it can calculate the next oil change.
- Turn the ignition on without starting the engine.

- Using the MENU button and the thumbwheel on the turn signal lever, scroll through the options shown on the Driver Information Center (DIC) until Engine Oil Life is displayed.

- Press the SET/CLEAR button to reset the oil life indicator to 100%.
- Turn the ignition off.
Take care not to reset the engine oil life indicator by accident between oil changes. The indicator cannot be set precisely again.
If message code 82 (Change Engine Oil Soon) appears again on the Driver Information Center (DIC) after starting the engine, this means the engine oil life system has not been reset.
Repeat the procedure.
Caution Remember to reset the Engine Oil Life System after every oil change.Test yourself
