Operation

~1min read

If the vehicle gets too close or approaches the vehicle in front too quickly, the system automatically applies the brakes to avoid a collision.

The driver is then warned by a message on the display.

The brake lights come on to warn other road users.

Automatic collision avoidance is possible if the difference between the speed of your vehicle and the vehicle ahead does not exceed 15 km/h.

Above this threshold, the system reduces the speed of your vehicle as much as possible to avoid a collision or reduce the effects of a collision.

Automatic braking may bring the vehicle to a complete stop if the situation requires it.

In this case, the vehicle stops briefly (for approximately 1.5 seconds) to allow the driver to take back control by pressing the brake pedal.

Activation of the system may cause the engine to stall if the driver has not depressed the clutch pedal quickly enough during automatic braking. During automatic braking, the driver can always brake harder than the system does by pressing the brake pedal more firmly. After a collision, the system is automatically deactivated and cannot be reactivated. To restore the system, contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
