Fuel for diesel engines

~1min read

Diesel engines are designed to run on biofuels compliant with current and future European standards, available at fuel stations.

  • Diesel fuel compliant with EN 590 blended with biofuel compliant with EN 14214,
  • Diesel fuel compliant with EN 16734 blended with biofuel compliant with EN 14214 (possible fatty acid methyl ester content: 0% to 10%),
  • Paraffinic diesel fuel compliant with EN 15940 blended with biofuel compliant with EN 14214 (possible fatty acid methyl ester content: 0% to 7%).

The use of B20 or B30 fuel compliant with EN 16709 is possible in your vehicle's diesel engine. However, its use, even accidental, requires strict compliance with special operating conditions, referred to as "Difficult driving conditions". For more information, contact a CITROËN network dealer or a specialist workshop.

The use of other types of biofuel (pure or diluted vegetable or animal oils, heating oil...) is strictly prohibited (risk of damage to the engine and fuel system).

Only diesel fuel additives compliant with standard B715000 are permitted.
