City Brake Control (CBC) system
(depending on version/market, where fitted)
This is a driving aid consisting of a laser sensor located in the upper part of the windscreen, fig. 54, able to detect vehicles in front of the car at close range and, in the event of an imminent collision, to brake the car automatically to avoid the impact or reduce its effects.

The system is active only if:
- the ignition key is in the MAR position;
- the vehicle speed is between 5 and 30 km/h;
- the front seat belts are fastened.
It is however possible to deactivate (and subsequently reactivate) the system by using the Setup menu on the display.
The system intervenes in situations where there is an imminent risk of collision and the driver does not press the brake pedal promptly.
If the system detects the possibility of impact with the vehicle ahead, it may prepare the car for a possible emergency braking.
If the driver takes no action to avoid the impact, the system may automatically slow the car down to prepare it for a possible collision.
In collision-risk situations, if the driver's action on the brake pedal is not sufficient, the system may intervene to optimise the response of the braking system, thereby further reducing the speed of the car.
When driving on steep uphill roads, the system may intervene, with consequent action on the braking system.Versions fitted with the Start&Stop system: at the end of the automatic braking intervention, the Start&Stop system will activate as described in the "Start&Stop system" paragraph in the "Starting and driving" chapter.
Versions fitted with a manual gearbox: at the end of the automatic braking intervention the engine may stall and switch off, unless the driver presses the clutch pedal.
Versions fitted with the "Dualogic" gearbox (for versions/markets where provided): after braking, the last gear stored remains engaged.
WARNING On versions fitted with a manual gearbox, as well as those fitted with the "Dualogic" gearbox (for versions/markets where provided), after the vehicle has stopped the brake calipers may remain locked for about 2 seconds for safety reasons. Make sure to press the brake pedal if the vehicle should move forward slightly.
WARNING The system does NOT activate when reverse gear is engaged. The system does NOT activate if the front seat belts are not fastened.
Activation/deactivation
The system can be deactivated (and later reactivated) via the Setup menu on the display.
Driving in special conditions
In certain driving conditions, such as:
- driving near a bend (see fig. 55);
- small vehicles and/or vehicles not aligned with the driving lane (see fig. 56);
- other vehicles changing lanes (see fig. 57); the system may intervene unexpectedly or with a delay. The driver must therefore always pay particular attention and keep control of the vehicle in order to drive safely.

WARNING When driving on roads near trees with overhanging branches, it is advisable to deactivate the system to prevent branches at bonnet or windscreen height from interfering with the system.
