Starting and driving

Start&Stop system

~1min read

The Start&Stop system automatically stops the engine when the vehicle is stationary and restarts it when the driver intends to move off again.

This reduces fuel consumption, harmful gas emissions and noise pollution.

Operating modes

Engine stop mode: with the vehicle stationary, the engine stops with the gearbox in neutral when the clutch pedal is released.

NOTE The engine can only stop automatically after exceeding a speed of approximately 10 km/h, to avoid repeated engine stops when driving at walking pace.

Engine restart mode: to restart the engine, press the clutch pedal.

Manual activation / deactivation of the system

To manually activate/deactivate the system, press the buttonfig. 88 located on the dashboard control panel.

LED off: system activated.

LED on: system deactivated.

CAUTION 125) When replacing the battery, always contact the Fiat Service Network. Replace the battery with one of the same type (HEAVY DUTY) and with the same specifications.

126) Before opening the bonnet, make sure the vehicle is switched off and the ignition key is in the STOP position.

Comply with the information on the plate fitted to the front crossmember. It is recommended to remove the key when other people are in the vehicle. Always leave the vehicle only after removing the key or turning it to the STOP position.

When refuelling, make sure the vehicle is switched off with the key in the STOP position. CAUTION 46) If climate comfort is a priority, the Start&Stop system can be deactivated to allow the air conditioning system to operate continuously.
