Towing trailers

Warnings

To tow caravans or trailers, the vehicle must be fitted with an approved towing hitch and an adequate electrical system. Installation must be carried out by qualified personnel.

If necessary, fit specific and/or additional rear-view mirrors, in compliance with the current Highway Code.

Remember that towing a trailer reduces the ability to climb maximum gradients and increases stopping distances and overtaking times, in proportion to the total weight of the trailer.

On downhill sections, select a lower gear instead of using the brakes continuously.

The weight the trailer exerts on the vehicle's towing hitch reduces the vehicle's payload by the same amount. To make sure you do not exceed the maximum towable weight (shown on the registration document), take into account the weight of the fully loaded trailer, including accessories and personal luggage.

Observe the speed limits specific to each country for vehicles towing a trailer. In any case, the maximum speed must not exceed 100 km/h.

Any electric brake or other auxiliary device (electric winch, etc.) must be powered directly from the battery by a cable with a cross-section of at least 2.5 mm2.

In addition to the electrical connections, only the cable for an electric brake and the cable for a trailer interior light with a power of no more than 15 W may be connected to the vehicle's electrical system. For the connections, use the prepared control unit with a battery cable of at least 2.5 mm2 cross-section.

For Panda Cross and Panda 4x4 versions, if the vehicle is used for prolonged periods at maximum towing capacity on uphill road gradients, it is recommended to change the engine oil more frequently (every 10,000 km).

WARNING Auxiliary loads other than exterior lights (electric brake, electric winch, etc.) must only be used with the engine running.

WARNING For installation of the towing hitch, contact the Fiat Service Network.

WARNING 131) The ABS fitted to the vehicle does not control the trailer's braking system. Take particular care on slippery surfaces.

132) Never modify the vehicle's brake system to operate the trailer brake. The trailer braking system must be completely independent of the vehicle's hydraulic system.
