Manual transmission
To engage gears, press the clutch pedal fully down and move the gear lever to the desired position (the gear shift pattern is shown on the gear lever knob, fig. 82).

For the 0.9 TwinAir, 0.9 TwinAir Turbo and 1.2 8V 69 HP versions: to engage reverse gear R from neutral, lift the ring A fig. 82 located under the knob and at the same time move the lever to the right, then pull it back.
For the 1.3 16V Multijet version: to engage reverse gear R from neutral, move the lever to the right, then pull it back.
WARNING Reverse gear can only be engaged when the vehicle is completely stopped. With the engine running, before engaging reverse, wait at least 2 seconds with the clutch pedal fully depressed to avoid damaging the gears and grinding.
WARNING The clutch pedal must be used exclusively for changing gears.
Do not drive with your foot resting on the clutch pedal, even lightly. On versions/markets where it is provided, the clutch pedal control electronics may intervene, interpreting the incorrect driving style as a fault.
CAUTION 122) To change gears correctly, press the clutch pedal fully down. The floor under the pedals must also be free of obstructions: make sure any floor mats are always properly laid out and do not interfere with the pedals. CAUTION 44) Do not drive with your hand resting on the gear lever, because even light pressure, over time, can wear internal gearbox components.Test yourself
