Parking

~2min read

When parking and leaving the vehicle, proceed as follows:

  • engage a gear (1st gear when parked uphill or reverse when parked downhill) and leave the wheels turned;
  • switch off the engine and apply the parking brake;
  • always remove the key from the starter device.

If the vehicle is parked on a steep slope, it is also advisable to block the wheels with a wedge or a stone.

On versions fitted with Dualogic transmission, wait until the letter P appears on the display before releasing the brake pedal.

WARNING NEVER leave the vehicle with the gearshift in neutral (or, on versions fitted with Dualogic transmission, without first moving the gear selector lever to P).

Parking brake

The parking brake lever is located between the front seats.

Applying the parking brake: pull lever A in fig. 81 upwards until the vehicle is securely locked.

Releasing the parking brake:

lift lever A slightly, press and hold button B, checking that the warning light goes outon the instrument cluster.

CAUTION 119) Never leave children alone in the unattended vehicle; when leaving the vehicle, always remove the key from the starter device and take it with you.

120) The vehicle must be locked after a few clicks of the lever; if not, contact the Fiat Service Network to have it adjusted.

121) When parking on slopes, it is important to turn the front wheels towards the kerb (when parking downhill), or in the opposite direction if the vehicle is parked uphill. If the vehicle is parked on a steep slope, it is also advisable to block the wheels with a wedge or a stone.
