Dualdrive electric power steering
Operates only when the key is in the ON position and the engine is running.
The steering system adjusts the force required to turn the steering wheel depending on driving conditions. When the CITY function is on, the force needed to turn the steering wheel is much lower, which makes parking easier. This function is therefore especially useful when driving in city centres.
WARNING If the ignition key is turned quickly, full power steering assistance will return only after a few seconds.
SWITCHING THE CITY FUNCTION ON/OFF
Press the CITY button, fig. 26. When this function is on, the CITY indicator appears on the display (on vehicles with a multifunction display) and the CITY label on the button lights up.
To switch this function off, press the same button again.

WARNING During parking manoeuvres that require many turns of the steering wheel, the steering may feel stiffer. This is normal: the system that protects the electric steering motor from overheating has intervened. No repair is required.
The next time the vehicle is used, power steering will work normally again.
CAUTION
29) Never carry out any work on the steering wheel or steering column after the vehicle has been purchased (e.g.
fitting anti-theft devices), as they may cause, in addition to loss of system performance and warranty coverage, serious safety problems, and may also make the vehicle non-compliant with its type approval.
30) Before carrying out any service work, always switch off the engine, remove the ignition key and engage the steering lock, especially when the vehicle is raised off the ground. If this is not possible (for example, when the ignition key must be in the MAR position or the engine must be running), remove the main fuse protecting the electric power steering system.
31) Factors unrelated to the electric power steering may cause the warning lamp in the instrument cluster to come on. In this case, if the vehicle is moving, stop it immediately, switch off the engine for about 20 seconds, then restart it. If the warning lamp does not go out (in some versions a special message also appears on the display), contact an authorised Fiat service centre.
