No SRS Fault Present at Start of Repair
- Verify the SRS. Make sure all airbags are installed and connected, and the ignition is OFF. Wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition ON and check the airbag warning indicator. The airbag indicator illuminates continuously for approximately 6 seconds and then turns off. Continue to monitor the airbag indicator for approximately 30 seconds, as this is the time required for the RCM to complete the SRS self-test.
- If an SRS fault is present, the airbag warning lamp either does not illuminate, or remains on continuously or flashes. Flashing may not occur until approximately 30 seconds after turning the ignition from OFF to ON. If this occurs, diagnose and repair all SRS faults before proceeding with any other repairs.
- If the airbag warning indicator does not illuminate without a chime within 30 seconds after turning the ignition ON, or an SRS message is not displayed in the message center, there is no SRS fault.
- If the airbag warning indicator does not function and an SRS fault is present, a chime sequence of 5 sets of 5 beeps sounds or a message is displayed in the message center. In this case, diagnose and repair the airbag indicator and any SRS faults before proceeding with any other repairs.
