Rearview Camera

~4min read

The backup camera system provides a video image of the area behind your vehicle.

During operation, lines appear on the display showing the path of your vehicle and proximity to objects behind your vehicle.

The camera is located on the liftgate.

Using the Backup Camera System

The backup camera system shows what is behind your vehicle when you shift into reverse (R).

The system uses three types of guidelines to help you see what is behind your vehicle:

  • Active guidelines (if equipped): Show the predicted path of your vehicle when reversing.
  • Fixed guidelines: Show the actual path your vehicle travels when reversing in a straight line. This can be useful when backing into a parking space or aligning your vehicle with an object behind you.
  • Center line: Helps align the center of your vehicle with an object (for example, a trailer).

The camera may not function properly under the following conditions:

  • At night or in dark areas, if one or both backup lamps are not working.
  • Dirt, water, or debris blocks the camera view. Clean the lens with a soft, lint-free cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner. You can also use the rear washer to clean the camera. See Wiper and Washer Controls.
  • The rear of your vehicle is struck or damaged, causing the camera to become misaligned.

Camera System Settings

Backup camera system settings can be accessed through the touchscreen. See Settings.

Camera System Operation

A - Active guidelines (if equipped)

B - Center line

C - Fixed guideline: Green zone

D - Fixed guideline: Yellow zone

E - Fixed guideline: Red zone

F - Rear bumper

Active guidelines are only displayed with fixed guidelines. To use the active guidelines, turn the steering wheel to direct the guidelines toward the intended path. If you change the steering wheel position while reversing, the vehicle may deviate from the original intended path.

Fixed and active guidelines gradually appear and disappear depending on the steering wheel position. Active guidelines are not displayed when the steering wheel is in the straight-ahead position.

Always use caution when reversing. Objects in the red zone are closest to your vehicle and objects in the green zone are farther away. Objects become closer to your vehicle as they move from the green zone to the yellow or red zones. Use the side view mirrors and rearview mirror to get the best coverage of both sides and the rear of the vehicle.

Obstacle Distance Indicator (if equipped)

The system displays an image of your vehicle and the sensor zones. The zones light up green, yellow, and red when the parking assist sensors detect an object within the coverage area.

Manual Zoom

Selectable settings for this feature: Zoom In (+) and Zoom Out (-). Press the symbol on the camera screen to change the view. The default setting is Zoom. OFF.

This allows you to get a closer view of an object behind your vehicle. The zoomed image keeps the bumper in the image to provide a reference. Zoom is active only while the transmission is in Reverse (R).

Rear View Camera Delay

Selectable settings for this feature: ON and OFF.

Rear view camera delay is off by default.

When shifting the transmission from Reverse (R) to any gear other than Park (P), the camera image remains on the display until:

  • Your vehicle speed reaches approximately 8 km/h.
  • You shift your vehicle into Park (P).
