Side Detection System (if equipped)
The system uses the front and rear corner sensors of the Parking Aid system to detect objects located alongside your vehicle. The system displays them on a virtual map on the information display as your vehicle passes them.
The sensors are located on the front and rear bumpers.
The system may not operate if:
- Turn the ignition on, then off, and then on again within a few seconds.
- Your vehicle remains stationary for more than two minutes.
- The anti-lock brake system activates.
- The traction control system activates.
To reinitialize the system, you may need to drive the vehicle approximately 10 ft (3 m).

The sensor detection range is up to 24 in (60 cm) from the side of the vehicle.
When the system detects an object within the coverage area and in the path of your vehicle, an audible warning sounds. As the object gets closer to your vehicle, the tone frequency increases.
Object Distance Indicator (if equipped)

The system shows object distance through the information display.
- As the distance to the object decreases, the indicator segments illuminate and move toward the vehicle icon.
- If no object is detected, the distance indicator segments are displayed in gray.
When you shift into Reverse (R), the system provides audible and visual warnings when detected objects are within 24 in (60 cm) and within the path of your vehicle. When you stop the vehicle, the audible warnings turn off after two seconds.
When shifting into any forward gear, the system provides audible warnings and a visual indication when your vehicle is moving at approximately 5 mph (8 km/h) or below and the system detects an object within the detection zone. When you stop the vehicle, the audible warnings turn off after two seconds, and the visual indication turns off after four seconds.
When shifting into Neutral (N), the system provides a visual indication only if your vehicle is moving at approximately 8 km/h or below. For example, your vehicle is moving down a slope and the system detects a moving object toward your vehicle. When you stop the vehicle, the visual indication turns off after four seconds.
If the system is unavailable, the side distance indicator segments are not displayed.
