Headlamps

The headlamp system consists of:

  • Headlamp Assembly
  • Headlight Switch
  • Left-Hand Multifunction Switch
  • BCM

The halogen headlamp system is a four-beam system. It consists of replaceable low-beam and high-beam bulbs in each headlamp assembly. The park and turn lamps are integrated into the headlamp assembly and the bulbs can be replaced separately.

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)

The DRL system consists of the low beam headlamps and the BCM.

The DRL system controls the low beam headlamps at a reduced intensity to improve vehicle visibility to other traffic.

Automatic Headlamps

The autolamp system consists of:

  • Light Sensor
  • Headlight Switch
  • BCM

The autolamp system provides light-sensitive automatic control of the exterior lamps. The autolamp system keeps the exterior lamps on for a preselected period of time after the ignition is turned off (20 seconds is the factory default). The preselected time can be adjusted up to approximately 3 minutes using the message center controls.

Brake Lamps

The stoplamp system consists of:

  • Stop Lamp Switch
  • Rear Lamp Assembly
  • High Mounted Stop Lamp
  • BCM

The brake lamp switch is located on the brake pedal assembly. Voltage is supplied to the rear lamps and the high mounted stoplamp when the brake pedal is applied.

Turn Signal and Hazard Warning

The turn signal lamp system consists of:

  • Front Turn Signal Lamps
  • Rear Lamp Assembly
  • Outside Mirrors
  • Left-Hand Multifunction Switch
  • Hazard Warning Switch (integrated into the FCIM)
  • BCM

When the multifunction switch is in the left or right turn position, the corresponding turn signal indicators flash and turn off.

When the hazard function is active, all turn signals flash and turn off.

The front turn signal lamps are integrated into the headlamps.

The rear lamps on 4-door vehicles have the same functions as the stoplamps (combination stoplamps/turn signal lamps).

When equipped, the outside mirrors have turn signal indicators.

Parking, Tail and License Plate Lamps

The parking lamp, tail lamp and license plate lamp system consists of:

  • Front Parking Lamps
  • Rear Lamp Assembly
  • License Plate Lamp
  • Headlight Switch
  • BCM

The front parking lamps are integrated into the headlamp assemblies.

The rear parking lamps are integrated into the rear lamp assemblies.

Fog Lamps

The fog lamp system consists of:

  • Fog Lamps
  • Fog Lamp Switch (integrated into the headlamp switch)
  • BCM

The fog lamps can be turned on only when the ignition is in the RUN position, the park lamps are on and the high beams are off.

Back-Up Lamps

The back-up lamp system consists of:

  • Back-Up Lamp (part of the rear lamp assembly)
  • Back-Up Lamp Switch (manual transmission)
  • Back-Up Lamp Relay (automatic transmission)
  • TCM (automatic transmission)
  • BCM

When the transmission is in REVERSE, the back-up lamps turn on.
