All electrical circuits are switched on. Warning and indicator lights illuminate.

Starting the vehicle with an automatic transmission

Note: Releasing the brake pedal while starting the engine will abort engine cranking and return the ignition to on.

  1. The gear selector must be in P or N.
  2. Fully depress the brake pedal.
  3. Briefly press the start button.

Starting the vehicle with a manual transmission

Note: Releasing the clutch pedal while starting the engine will abort engine cranking and return the ignition to on.

  1. Fully depress the clutch pedal.
  2. Briefly press the start button.

Starting a diesel engine

Note: Engine cranking will not start until the glow plug cycle is complete. In very low temperatures this may take several seconds.

Note: Keep the brake pedal or clutch pedal depressed until engine cranking starts.
