Child Restraint and Seat Belt Maintenance. Seat Belt Extenders
Child Restraint and Seatbelt Maintenance
Periodically inspect the seat belts of the vehicle and the child safety seat to make sure they operate properly and are not damaged. Inspect the vehicle and child restraint seat belts for fraying, tears, and cuts. Replace if necessary. All vehicle seat belt assemblies, including the retractors, buckles, front seat belt buckle assemblies, buckle support assemblies (slider, if equipped), shoulder belt height adjusters (if equipped), shoulder belt guide on the seatback (if equipped), LATCH child seat and tether anchors, and mounting hardware should be inspected after a crash. Read the child restraint manufacturer's instructions for additional inspection and maintenance information specific to the child restraint.
We recommend that all seat belt assemblies used in vehicles involved in a crash be replaced. However, if the crash was minor and the authorized dealer finds that the belts are undamaged and continue to operate normally, they do not need to be replaced. Seat belt assemblies not in use during a crash should also be inspected and replaced if damaged or if improper use is noted.
Take proper care of the seat belts.
Seat Belt Extenders
If, due to body size or driving position, it is not possible to correctly fasten the seat belt across the lap and shoulder, a compatible seat belt extension can be obtained free of charge from our dealers. Use only our seat belt extensions, made to original equipment manufacturer seat belt specifications, with our seat belts. Consult an authorized dealer to confirm whether your extension is compatible with your vehicle's safety system.
