Driver and Passenger Airbags

The driver and front passenger airbags will deploy during severe frontal and near-frontal crashes.
The driver and front passenger airbag system consists of:
- Driver and passenger airbag modules.
- Front passenger detection system.
Impact sensors and monitoring system with readiness indicator.
Proper Driver and Front Passenger Seat Adjustment
To position yourself properly away from the airbag:
- Move the seat rearward as far as possible while still reaching the pedals comfortably.
- Slightly recline the seatback (by one or two degrees) from the vertical position.
Once all passengers have adjusted their seats and fastened their seat belts, it is very important that they continue to sit properly. A properly seated passenger sits upright, leaning against the seatback and centered on the seat cushion, with their feet resting comfortably on the floor. Improper seating can increase the chance of injury in a crash. For example, if a passenger slouches, lies down, turns sideways, sits forward, leans forward or sideways, or raises one or both feet, the likelihood of injury during a crash increases significantly.
Children and Airbags

Children must always be properly restrained. Accident statistics show that children are safer when properly secured in the rear seats than in the front seat. Failure to follow these instructions may increase the risk of injury in a crash.
