Condensation in Exterior Front and Rear Lamps

The front and rear exterior lamps have vents for normal changes in air pressure.

Condensation may be a natural by-product of this design. When humid air enters the lamp assembly through the vents, condensation may form when the temperature is cold. When normal condensation occurs, a light fog may form inside the lens. The light fog eventually dissipates and exits through the vents during normal operation.

Clearing time may take up to 48 hours in dry conditions.

Examples of acceptable condensation:

  • Presence of light fog (no streaks, drip marks or large droplets).
  • Light fog covers less than 50% of the lens surface.

Examples of unacceptable condensation are:

  • Water pooled inside the lamp.
  • Streaks, drip marks or large droplets are present on the inside of the lens.

If you see unacceptable condensation, have your vehicle checked by an authorized dealer.
