Minor Paint Damage Repair. Cleaning the Wheels
Minor Paint Damage Repair
Authorized dealers have touch-up paint to match your vehicle's color. Your vehicle's color code is printed on a label on the front door pillar on the left door. Provide your color code to your authorized dealer to make sure you get the correct color.
Before repairing minor paint damage, use a cleaner such as Motorcraft Bug and Tar Remover to remove contaminants such as bird droppings, tree sap, insect deposits, resin stains, road salt and industrial fallout.
Always read the instructions before using cleaning products.
Wheel Cleaning
- Clean the wheels regularly with a wheel cleaner. We recommend using a Ford-approved wheel cleaner if available.
- Remove dirt and brake dust with a sponge.
- Remove resin and grease with a bug and resin remover. We recommend using a Ford-approved bug and resin remover if available.
- Rinse the wheels thoroughly with water after cleaning.
If you plan to leave your vehicle parked for an extended period after cleaning the wheels with wheel cleaner, drive the vehicle for a few minutes before doing so. This reduces the risk of corrosion on brake discs, brake pads and linings.
Do not wash the wheels when they are hot.
