Side Detection System (IF EQUIPPED)
The system uses the front and rear corner parking aid sensors to detect objects that are beside your vehicle. The system shows them on a virtual map in the information display as your vehicle moves past them. The sensors are located in the front and rear bumpers.
The system may not operate if:
- Turn the ignition on, then off, and back on within a few seconds.
- Your vehicle remains stationary for more than a couple of minutes.
- The anti-lock brake system activates.
- The traction control system activates.
To reinitialize the system, you may need to drive the vehicle approximately 10 ft (3 m).

The sensor detection range is up to 24 in (60 cm) from the side of the vehicle.
When the system detects an object within the detection zone and the path of your vehicle, a warning tone sounds. As the object gets closer to your vehicle, the tone frequency increases.
Object Distance Indicator (if equipped)

The system shows the distance to the object in the information display.
- As the distance to the object decreases, the indicator segments light up and move toward the vehicle icon.
- If no object is detected, the distance indicator segments are gray.
When you shift into reverse (R), the system provides audible and visual warnings when detected objects are within 24 inches (60 cm) and inside the travel path of your vehicle. When you stop your vehicle, the audible warnings turn off after two seconds.
When you shift into any forward gear, the system provides audible and visual warnings when your vehicle is traveling at approximately 5 mph (8 km/h) or below and the system detects an object in the detection zone. When you stop your vehicle, the audible warnings turn off after two seconds and the visual indication turns off after four seconds.
When you shift into neutral (N), the system provides a visual indication only if the vehicle is traveling at approximately 5 mph (8 km/h) or below. For example, your vehicle is traveling on a slope and the system detects an object moving toward your vehicle. When you stop the vehicle, the visual indication turns off after four seconds.
If the system is unavailable, the side distance indicator bars are not displayed.
