Note: Only use a 12 V power source to start the vehicle. Note: Do not disconnect the battery of a vehicle that has broken down: this could damage the vehicle's electrical system.
- Park the assisting vehicle with the auxiliary battery close to the hood of the disabled vehicle; make sure the two vehicles are not touching. Apply the parking brake on both vehicles and keep away from the engine cooling fan and other moving components.
- Check the battery terminals and remove any excessive corrosion before connecting the battery cables. Make sure the caps are tight and straight.
- Turn on the blower fan of the heating system in both vehicles to protect against electrical surges. Switch off all other accessories.
