WARNINGS

  • This system does not relieve you of your responsibility to drive with appropriate attention and care.
  • If your vehicle is equipped with a trailer hitch module not approved by Ford, the system may not detect objects correctly.
  • The sensors may not detect objects in heavy rain or in other conditions that can produce interfering reflections.
  • The sensors may not detect objects whose surfaces absorb ultrasonic waves.
  • The system does not detect objects that move away from your vehicle. They are detected only when they begin to move closer to the vehicle.
  • Use extra caution when reversing with a trailer hitch ball or an accessory mounted at the rear, for example a bicycle carrier. The rear parking aid only indicates the approximate distance between the rear bumper and an object.
  • If you wash your vehicle with a high-pressure water jet, spray the sensors only briefly and always from a distance greater than 8 in (20 cm).

Note: If your vehicle is equipped with a trailer hitch ball, the system is automatically deactivated when trailer lights (or a rear light plate) are connected to the 13-pin connector through a trailer hitch module approved by Ford. Note: Keep the sensors free of dirt, ice or snow. Do not clean them with sharp objects.

Note: The system may give false alerts if it detects a signal that uses the same frequency as the sensors, or if your vehicle is at maximum load capacity. Note: The outer sensors may detect the side walls of a garage. If the distance between the outer sensors and the side wall remains constant for three seconds, the alert stops. When you continue the maneuver, the inner sensors detect objects located directly behind your vehicle.
