Rear Parking Aid System
WARNINGS
- Detection is only an aid for detecting certain objects when the vehicle moves forward or backward at low speed. Traffic control systems, bad weather, or external motors and fans can affect sensor operation, which may reduce their performance or cause them to activate by mistake.
To avoid personal injury, you must read and understand the system limitations described in this section.
Rear Detection System
When the parking aid system sounds a warning, the audio system may reduce the selected volume to a preset level.
Note: Some additional equipment may reduce system performance or cause it to activate by mistake, for example large tow bars, bicycle carriers or surfboard carriers. Note: The parking aid sensors must stay clean and free of ice or snow to avoid reduced performance or false activation. Do not clean the sensors with sharp objects. Note: If the alignment of the parking aid sensors is no longer correct due to damage to the vehicle bumper, this may result in reduced performance or false activation.
The rear parking aid sensors are automatically activated when the gear selector lever is in position R (Reverse) and your vehicle is moving at a speed below 5 km/h. If you move your vehicle closer to an object, the sensors give a warning at speeds below 5 km/h.

- Sensor detection zone up to 71 in (180 cm) around the rear bumper.
Note: The coverage area is smaller at the outer corners.
The system detects large objects when you place the gear selector lever in position R (Reverse):
- If your vehicle is reversing at low speed.
- If your vehicle is stationary but an object is slowly approaching the rear of the vehicle.
- If your vehicle is reversing at low speed and an object is slowly approaching the rear of the vehicle.
Note: if your vehicle remains stationary for more than two seconds, the warning tone stops. If your vehicle moves in reverse, the warning tone sounds again.
Shift the gear selector lever to a position other than R (Reverse), or press the park assist button to switch off the system. If the system is faulty, a warning message appears in the information display and prevents you from activating the system.
