Front park assist system
WARNINGS
- The park assist system helps you detect objects only when your vehicle is moving at low speed. Use the system with caution to avoid personal injury.
- To avoid personal injury, you must always remain alert when the vehicle is in reverse and the detection system is operating.
- This system is not designed to prevent contact with small or moving objects. The system is designed to alert you and assist you in detecting large stationary objects in order to avoid damage to your vehicle. The system may not detect smaller objects, particularly those near the ground.
- Traffic control systems, bad weather, air brakes, and external motors and fans may affect the operation of the detection system. As a result, system performance may be reduced or false warnings may occur.
Front detection system
The front sensors are active in all situations, except when the transmission is in Park (P).
You can also press the park assist button to activate the front park assist system without engaging Reverse (R).
Note: the sensors located on the bumper or trim must be free of snow, ice and heavy dust build-up. If the sensors are covered, the accuracy of the system may be affected. Do not clean the sensors with sharp objects. Note: a bumper or trim that is misaligned or bent as a result of vehicle damage may affect the detection zone, causing errors when measuring obstacles or false warnings.
When the parking aid system sounds a warning, the audio system may reduce the selected volume to a preset level.

- The sensor detection zone extends up to 28 in (70 cm) in front of the front bumper and up to 6 to 14 in (15 to 35 cm) to the sides of the front bumper.
When your vehicle approaches an object, a warning tone sounds. The frequency of the warning tone increases as your vehicle gets closer to an object. The warning tone sounds continuously when an object is within 30 cm of the front bumper.
The system switches off automatically when vehicle speed reaches 12 km/h.
The system detects objects when:
- your vehicle is moving forward at low speed;
- your vehicle is moving forward at low speed and an object is slowly approaching the front of your vehicle.
Press the park assist button to switch off the system.
If the system is faulty, a warning message appears in the information display and prevents you from activating the system. See Information Messages (page 96).
If Reverse (R) is engaged, the front detection system sounds warnings when your vehicle is moving and the detected obstacle is getting closer to your vehicle.
Once the vehicle is stationary, the warning tone stops after 2 seconds.
Obstacle distance indicator (if equipped)
The system provides an obstacle distance indication through the information display. The distance indicator appears when Reverse (R) is engaged.
The indicator appears:
- As the distance between the obstacle and the vehicle decreases, the indicator bar lights up and moves toward the vehicle icon.
- If no obstacle is detected, the distance indicator bar is greyed out.
Vehicles with automatic transmission
If the gear selector lever is in Neutral (N), the system provides an obstacle distance indication through the information display. If your vehicle is moving, the front detection system sounds a warning when the vehicle moves at 12 km/h or below and an obstacle is within the detection zone. Once the vehicle is stationary, the warning tone stops after 4 seconds.
If the gear selector lever is in Drive (D) or any other forward gear, the front detection system sounds warnings when the vehicle is moving and an obstacle is within the detection zone. Once the vehicle is stationary, the warning tone stops after 2 seconds.
