Side detection system
The side detection system uses the front and rear sensors to detect obstacles close to the sides of your vehicle. When your vehicle passes nearby, the system places them on a virtual map in the instrument cluster. The system detects obstacles even when they are no longer in the sensor's field of view.
Note: if an obstacle approaches the side of the vehicle without passing in front of the front and rear sensors, the obstacle is not detected.
The side sensors are active in all situations, except when the transmission is in Park (P).

The detection zone extends up to 60 cm from the side of your vehicle.
When the system detects an object near one side of your vehicle, an audible alarm sounds. As the object gets closer to that side of your vehicle, the alarm interval shortens.
The audible alarm interval differs depending on whether the obstacle is in the path of the vehicle or outside it.
Distance indication (if equipped)

The system can show the obstacle distance through the information display.
As the distance decreases, the indicator bar lights up and moves towards the vehicle icon. If no obstacle is detected, the distance indicator bar does not appear.
When you select reverse (R), the side detection system provides an audible and visual distance indication when your vehicle is moving and obstacles are detected within 30 cm, or obstacles are detected at 30-60 cm and are in the path of your vehicle. When you stop your vehicle, the audible alarm stops after two seconds.
Note: the visual distance indication remains displayed when reverse (R) is selected.
When you select drive (D) or any other gear, such as low (L) or sport (S) with a manual transmission, the side detection system provides an audible and visual distance indication when your vehicle is travelling at 12 km/h or less and obstacles are detected within 30 cm, or obstacles are detected at 30-60 cm and are in the path of your vehicle.
When you stop your vehicle, the audible warning stops after two seconds and the visual distance indication clears after four seconds.
Note: if the obstacle remains at 30-60 cm, the visual distance indication remains displayed.
When you select neutral (N), the side detection system only provides a visual distance indication when your vehicle is travelling at 12 km/h or less, for example when driving on a slope and obstacles are detected at 30 cm. When you stop your vehicle, the visual distance indication clears after four seconds.
If the side detection system is unavailable, the side distance indicator bars do not display.
The side detection system may be unavailable in the following condition:
- If you switch off the traction control system.
The side detection system may remain unavailable until you have driven a distance roughly equal to the length of your vehicle. In this situation, the system resets if:
- you switch the ignition on, off and back on;
- your vehicle remains stationary for more than two minutes;
- the anti-lock braking system is activated;
- the traction control system is activated.
