Dual-Threshold Airbags
In this manual: Driver and Passenger Safety
~1min read
The front airbags of your vehicle also have two operating modes. These airbags have two different deployment thresholds depending on whether the passenger's seat belt is fastened or not.
If the seat belt is not fastened, the airbag inflates in a mode that provides the most reliable protection for the driver or passenger who is not wearing a seat belt.
If the seat belt is fastened, the airbag inflates at a somewhat different pressure threshold, since the airbag only supplements the primary protection provided by the seat belt.
