Driver and Passenger Safety

Teenagers

~1min read

A teenager who no longer needs a child restraint also risks serious injury or death from the front airbag if seated in the front passenger seat.

It is recommended that teenagers ride in the rear seat, using a booster cushion if necessary and properly secured with the seat belt (see page 71 for important information on teenage occupant safety).

You should be familiar with local laws regarding the transportation of children in vehicles.

Some vehicle models are equipped with warning labels located on the windshield, the front passenger door panel, and the front passenger sun visor. These labels contain information warning of the possible risk of injury to children from airbags and the need to properly use child restraint systems when transporting children in the vehicle. We strongly recommend that you read the content of these labels and follow the instructions carefully.
