Risk of Child Injury from Side Airbags
In this manual: Driver and Passenger Safety
~1min read
Side airbags are designed to protect adult occupants in the event of a moderate or severe side impact. If any part of a child's body is within the deployment zone of the inflating airbag cushion, the child may be seriously injured or killed.
Warning labels are located in the front door openings to remind you of the potential risk of injury from deployment of the side airbags.

If a child leans against the front door, the child may suffer serious or fatal injury when the side airbag deploys.
The occupant must sit upright, with the back firmly against the seatback.
