CD Handling Precautions

~1min read

Store discs in their cases to protect them from dust and other contaminants. To prevent warping, store discs away from moisture, direct sunlight and any heat sources.

Clean discs with a soft, clean cloth.

Wipe discs in straight lines, moving the cloth from the center of the disc toward the outer edge.

New discs may have burrs on the outer edge and the edge of the center hole. When such a disc is played, plastic particles may get onto the playing surface of the disc, causing skipping or other problems. Therefore, before use, run the side of a pencil along the edges of the disc and wipe the disc.

Make sure that no foreign objects or debris get into the player.

Держите компакт-диск только за внешний край и за центральное отверстие, не прикасайтесь

Hold the CD only by its outer edge and center hole; do not touch the flat surfaces of the disc with your fingers. Do not write on CDs with felt-tip pens, do not attach stabilizing rings, and do not affix labels to them. Along with contamination of the CD by fingers and liquids, this may cause problems during CD playback. In addition, a defective disc may get stuck in the player.
