Seat Belt Care

~2min read

For your safety, regularly inspect the condition of all seat belts in your vehicle.

To inspect, fully pull out each belt from the retractor and check it for fraying, cuts, burn marks, or signs of wear. Check the operation of the buckle and the ease of retraction of the belt by the retractor. If the belt does not retract easily into the retractor, it may need to be cleaned. Seat belts in unsatisfactory condition cannot provide protection and must be replaced immediately.

If the seat belts were used during a collision and subjected to high loads, contact an authorized dealer for inspection and, if necessary, replacement. Remember that seat belts that were used in a collision will not provide the required level of protection in a subsequent traffic accident.

Along with the seat belt inspection, an authorized dealer must check the condition of the seat belt anchorage points on the vehicle body. Seat belt pretensioners that were activated in a collision must be replaced with new ones.

Failure to perform regular inspections of the seat belts and improper care may result in serious injury or even death caused by seat belt failure or malfunction.

Regularly inspect the condition of the seat belts and, if necessary, immediately correct the fault or replace the seat belts.
