Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) Operation

~1min read

The Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) shifts automatically depending on vehicle speed and accelerator pedal position. The individual gear ratios are selected automatically, depending on the position of the shift lever.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of serious injury or death:

  • ALWAYS check the area around the vehicle for people, especially children, before shifting into D (Drive) or R (Reverse). • Before leaving the driver's seat, always make sure the shift lever is in P (Park) position, then apply the parking brake and turn the ignition key to the LOCK/OFF position. If these precautions are not observed, unexpected and sudden vehicle movement may occur.
  • When using manual shift mode, do not apply sudden engine braking (downshifting from a higher gear to a lower gear) on slippery roads. This may cause the tires to skid, which may result in an accident.
