Service Point Target Automatic Calibration (SPTAC)
This procedure provides a method for calibrating the camera by having the service technician align the vehicle to a well-lit simulated straight road target, preferably a wall. For the LKAS camera, the "System Out of Calibration" DTC will be set if it does not operate within the specified tolerances. LKAS will be supplied for field replacement; the "System Calibration Required / Option Coding Error" DTC is set if it is a service part supplied directly from the supplier's production.- Recommendations for Selecting a Suitable Target. The following conditions are required for successful completion of the LKAS Service Calibration-Static procedure:
A. Target surface (SST: 09890-3V100) must be perpendicular to the camera in both horizontal and vertical orientation to maintain a maximum roll of 1°. B. Target is mounted on a rigid backing material to meet flatness requirements. C. Target has reflective (not faded or poorly colored) markings that do not resemble lane elements. D. Target is 30 cm wide and 100 cm high. E. Installation area must NOT have cross-hatching or text markings near the target. F. Target must be well lit for optimal operation using constant lighting. There must be no continuous shadows on the target.
- Automatic Calibration Service Target Procedure
- Check the vehicle wheel alignment and tire pressure levels to make sure the camera is correctly aligned with the "world" before continuing with the calibration. The vehicle used for the calibration procedure must be at its rated production capacity (curb weight).
- The windshield must be clean and free of silk-screen obstructions so that the camera is not blocked.
- Connect the diagnostic connector and start the vehicle. The camera module must not be activated by pressing the switch.
- The service calibration procedure may not operate correctly if any system-level fault is active.
- When replacing the ECU: the service technician initiates the SPTAC reset setting.
- The service technician aligns either the vehicle to the target or the target to the vehicle.
A. The lower edge of the target is 90 ± 1 cm (35.4 ± 0.4 in.) above the ground and aligned with the horizontal axis of the camera lens.
- Place the target (A) along the longitudinal axis (centerline) of the vehicle within ±3 cm (±1.2 in.) of the target center (lateral deviation (B): ±3 cm (±1.2 in.)).

B. Position of target (A) for short distance: 0 ± 5 cm (0 ± 2 in.) (B) in front of the front bumper.
C. Position of target (A) for long distance: 100 ± 5 cm (39.4 ± 2 in.) (B) in front of the front bumper.

- The allowable target angle in the horizontal direction is ±10°.
- The allowable target angle in the vertical direction is ±5°.

- Check the target position and confirm the "OK" message on the diagnostic tool (KDS/GDS).
- Clear all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition OFF, then turn it back ON.
